CSA Share Week #1

Well, we got our first CSA share and we are leaving for Alaska tomorrow. So, we decided to give it to our vegetarian friend Dan. But, before that I had to get a few pictures of our share.

This week’s box contains: Lettuce, Arugula, Rapini, Radishes, Sugar Snap peas, Corn Meal, and an herb pot.

Lettuce is a mixture of varieties. There is Grandpa Admire’s – heirloom green leaf with red tips, smooth leaf, Drunken Woman Frizzy Headed – same as Grandpas, but a ruffled leaf, Tennis ball – small heirloom green butter lettuce, Demorges Braun - heirloom ruffled green leaf with bronze tips, Slo Bolt – frilly green leaf, Itaienenscher – green leaf, looks like a cross between oak leaf and romaine.

Arugula – Italian salad green with a slightly peppery flavor.

Rapini – Italian cooking green, has small broccoli like buds in the bunch.

Herb Pot – there is sage, oregano, marjoram, thyme, basil, parsley, cilantro, and dill.

The Corn Meal is whole grain and coarsely ground.
