Last weekend was nice and low key, so we were ready for the fun events planned for the weekend. On Friday night we took advantage of Restaurant Week and headed to Fogo De Chao for dinner with nine other people. Fogo is Patrick's favorite restaurant and inspired our annual "Meat Fest".
The restaurant has an amazing salad bar with artichokes, smoked salmon, gouda, parmesan and manchego cheeses. Then after you are stuffed by the salad bar, they have four sides of garlic mashed potatoes, warm cheese bread, crispy polenta and fried bananas. By then you are no longer hungry, but the the main course of meat is served. The gaucho chefs come around with large skewers of meat and green side up means you want more meat, while the red side up means you are taking a break. It really is a fun experience. This time around Patrick ate seven mozzarella balls as an appetizer to at least 10 different types of meat.
Here are some pictures of Patrick's meal. The pictures don't do the food justice. You really have to go experience it for yourself.
On Saturday, I was busy making pickles. I made a few jars of refrigerator pickles and I attempted regular pickles again. Last year my pickles didn't turn out, so hopefully this year I am more successful. I also made a Raspberry Cream Pie to bring to Rickard & Melissa's. That night we headed out to Waconia for dinner and to play with their little girls Emily & Ella.
On Sunday, we went to church and we were thinking of going to lunch, but decided we should probably just eat something at home. After church, Patrick headed outside in the awful heat to mow the lawn, pick weeds and trim branches. Needless to say he was drenched after all that.
That night we headed to the Lynx game at Target Center. Elysia had wanted to go a few weeks ago when we were in St. Paul for the Flugtag, but no one else was interested. Well, Patrick got an offer for "discounted" tickets in an e-mail, so that's how we ended up in the 3rd row of a Sunday night Lynx game with Elysia and Nick. The game was actually pretty fun and they only ended up losing by two, so at least it was fun to watch.
