The first Saturday in December we went to Lowe's and got our tree. We normally get it the weekend of Thanksgiving, but because we were busy with Kate's wedding Thanksgiving weekend we did it the next weekend.
We accomplished a lot on our Saturday. We got the tree. Then we spent a lot of time at Lowe's and Target deciding which LED lights to buy for the tree. We ended up getting the cool white lights. They look kind of crazy in photos, but they really aren't too bad in person. I also went through all the Christmas decorations and decided to downsize and give some of them to Goodwill.
Since we were super into camping and hiking this year, this little s'more camping guy is our 2012 ornament.
I even had time for a couple Christmas crafts this year. I made the ribbon Christmas tree at Thanksgiving thanks to my cousin's wife Betsy. And I made the little O wreath based on something I saw on Pinterest.
Our first big snow of the season came on Sunday, December 9th. We ended up getting over 10 inches of snow. With all the snow falling on Sunday that meant no driving it was actually an enjoyable way to welcome winter.
