We started our long weekend off with some very exciting house projects. On the actual 4th of July we stained both the front porch area and the back deck, along with fixing up some trim near the garage. The staining was an all day long project even with the two of us working on it a majority of the day.
We celebrated the completed projects with a nice dinner on the grill and some tasty beverages.
The next day we went to Elysia and Nick's house to play games, eat sliders and drink more tasty beverages.
Sunday was pretty low key, but then on Monday my brother and his wife welcomed their new baby to the world. His name is Ethan Wayne and he was 9 pounds, 6 ounces and 23 inches long at birth. On Tuesday evening Luke, Patrick and I went down to Mankato to meet him.

A few months ago I read a blog post where a photographer bought a cheap full frame camera on e-bay and used their professional lenses to venture into film on budget. After I read the article a light bulb went off and I realized that Patrick had a film camera that my lenses would work on. So I bought some new batteries for the camera and some film and got started taking photos. When I was a kid and I took photos with film I never ventured beyond automatic, so this was fun for me to try out. It's hard not to have the instant satisfaction that digital provides, but it's also ten times as exciting to look back on the photos months and weeks after you took them. I didn't venture beyond our house with this roll, but next time I think I will try out some new subjects for my next roll.
